inventory/stock-items
Prerequisites
Have ready before you start:
- The units, with their codes on them, and a barcode scanner. Or tick their rows on Inventory → Stock items instead, which carries the same More.
- The location the order hands out from, selected alone in the location selector in the top-left corner when your account has more than one.
- The price of each unit, or of all of them together.
The walkthrough
1
Scan the units
Scan the code on each unit that goes on the order, from any page except an order. The units collect in the Scanned items drawer at the bottom of the screen, every row ticked. Untick any unit that is not part of this order.
2
Choose Create order
Click More in the drawer’s header and choose Create order. For more than one unit, a dialog opens titled, for example, “Add 3 items to a new order”. Skip the next step for a single unit.
3
Choose the lines
Keep One line item to put every unit on one line, priced together, or choose Separate line items for a line per unit, each priced on its own. Click Create order at the bottom of the dialog. When nothing is in the way, the order is created and opens.
4
Answer what is in the way
Skip this step unless a second dialog opens. If it reads, for example, “1 item cannot go on a new order”, it lists what holds each such item from now on: click “Create order with the other 2” to leave them out. If it reads “Not all of these are at” and your location, click Create order.
5
Price the line
With one line, the order opens with the Edit line item panel on the right. Enter the price in Unit price and click Save at the bottom of the panel. With separate lines, the order opens on its Summary tab: click each line’s name to open its panel.
How do I know it worked?
- The new order opens, its status chip in the top-right corner reading Open.
- The units are on its lines. With One line item, the line is named after the first stock item and the number of others, for example Projector and 2 more.
- The units on the order leave the drawer. Units left out stay in it.
Troubleshooting / common pitfalls
A red notice says the order could not be created
A red notice says the order could not be created
It reads, for example, “The order could not be created: Not enough free units of Projector”. You scanned more units of a stock item with identical units than are free from now on. Lower its count in the drawer’s Scanned / stock column and try again. See Scan stock items.
