Open in TWICE Admin
inventory/stock-items
Prerequisites
Have ready before you start:
- A barcode scanner connected to the computer, set to end each code with Enter, as most scanners do out of the box.
- The units, with their codes on them. To give a unit another code, see Add a stock code.
The walkthrough
1
Open the stock items
Open Inventory → Stock items. A scan works on any page of the admin except an order’s own page, and here you see the units you collect. Click an empty part of the page, so that no text field, such as the search box above the table, holds the cursor.
2
Scan the first unit
Scan the code on the first unit. The Scanned items drawer opens from the bottom of the screen, titled Scanned items (1), with the unit on its own row. The row is ticked, and flashes briefly to mark the latest scan.
3
Scan the other units
Scan each of the other units in turn. Each new stock item gets its own row, and the count in the title goes up by one with every unit. A second scan of a unit that is already in the drawer shows Already in scanned items and adds nothing.
4
Count the units of a shared code
For a stock item that holds several identical units under one code, scan the code once for every unit in your hand. The Scanned / stock column counts them, for example 3 / 10. To set the count without scanning, double-click the cell, type the number and press Enter.
5
Untick what you will not act on
Untick the box at the start of any row you do not mean to act on. The buttons in the drawer’s header, Edit, Archive and More, take the ticked rows, and every row when none is ticked.
6
Put the drawer away
Click the down arrow in the top-right corner of the drawer to get the page back. A Scanned items button with the count stays at the bottom of the screen: click it to open the drawer again. The units stay collected while you move between pages.
How do I know it worked?
- The drawer’s title counts every unit you scanned, for example Scanned items (4).
- Each stock item has its own row, and the Scanned / stock cell shows how many of its units you collected.
- The pile stays while you work on other pages. It leaves with the units an action takes, when you click Clear all scans, or when you close the browser tab.
Troubleshooting / common pitfalls
Scanning does nothing
Scanning does nothing
A scan is ignored while a text field, such as the table’s search box, holds the cursor, and on an order’s own page, which runs its own scanner. Click an empty part of the page and scan again. Check that the scanner ends each code with Enter. See Stock codes.
A red notice says the code was not found
A red notice says the code was not found
The notice reads, for example, “Code B-104 not found”. The scanner worked, and nothing in your account carries that exact code. Search Inventory → Stock items for the code as text, and check that the scanner adds no prefix or suffix. See Stock codes.
A dialog asks which one you meant
A dialog asks which one you meant
“This code matches more than one thing” opens when the code is on more than one kind of record, such as a stock item and a listing. Choose the row marked Stock item to collect the unit. See Stock codes.
