In an advanced Recommerce OS, the system utilizes an auto-assigning feature to streamline operations. Instead of manually searching through thousands of SKUs, the system scans the inventory to identify specific items that meet the exact criteria of the customer's order. This ensures that an item is only selected if it is available and has passed necessary workflows, such as refurbishment checks.
Balancing Automation with Warehouse Flexibility
While automation speeds up the process, flexibility remains key for warehouse management. The system provides a suggestion for the specific unique item (ID) to collect, but it also displays the underlying requirements (e.g., iPhone 15, Middle Condition, Slight Scratches).
This visibility allows warehouse teams to override the auto-suggestion if necessary. If a warehouse employee is standing near a shelf with multiple items that match the order criteria, they can pick the most convenient item and switch the assignment in the system. This hybrid approach ensures that strict quality criteria are met while allowing for the physical realities of warehouse logistics.

Tuomo: So we have an auto-assigning feature, so where we go to your inventory and select the one that is available. In your inventory you might have stock that kind of meets that criteria, but it hasn't yet gone through all of the refurbishment flows. So we always make sure that the needed criteria is, for example, met. And then we auto-assign one of these items.
Then it's a little bit up to you how do you want to do order fulfillment. You will see our suggestion that which one of these unique items you would probably want to collect. But you'll at the same time see the requirements what were needed for that. So you might see that, all right, actually all of these other IDs are okay. Or you see that kind of the requirement for this listing was that it was iPhone 15 with, let's say, was it middle condition, kind of with slight scratches and so on.
So if your warehouse management system is such that your employees know that all of these are stored here, or you see the storage space of those, you can just go there and pick whatever you want and then just switch it to be that item instead of the one that we auto-assigned.
