inventory/stock-items
Record a finished service on the unit itself: set the day it was serviced and reset the count of use since then, so the unit leaves the view that lists what is due. Attributes explains how a stock item keeps its own values.

Prerequisites

Required permissions:
  • Create and edit stock items (inventory:stock_item_attributes:manage) to change the unit’s attribute values. Every built-in role holds it, Member included. See Users & Roles.
Have ready before you start:
  • The service attributes on the unit: a Date attribute for the last service and a Number attribute counting use since it. See Add a stock item attribute.
  • The day the work was finished.

The walkthrough

1

Open the unit

Select Inventory in the left sidebar, click the tab of your maintenance view above the table, such as Due for service, and click the unit’s row. The stock item’s page opens, with its tabs under its name.
2

Open the Attributes tab

Click Attributes in the row of tabs. The tab shows the unit’s attribute values in cards, one card per attribute group.
3

Set the service date

In the card that holds your service attributes, click the calendar button at the right end of the date field, such as Last service date, and pick the day the work was finished. A banner with Discard and Save changes appears at the top of the page.
4

Reset the use count

Clear the number field that counts use, such as Uses since service, and enter 0.
5

Save the changes

Click Save changes in the banner at the top of the page. The banner closes, and the two fields keep their new values.

How do I know it worked?

  • The Attributes tab shows the new date and a count of 0 when you open the unit again.
  • The unit is gone from your maintenance view, and the count beside the view’s tab name drops.
  • The unit is bookable again once the reservation you made for the work ends. If the work finished early, shorten the reservation: see Edit a reservation.

Troubleshooting / common pitfalls

It has not been added to this unit yet. Click Add Attribute on the card that should hold it, and add it with its value. See Add a stock item attribute.
It is a formula attribute, which works its value out from other fields and is read-only on the stock item. Change the values the formula reads instead. See Attributes.
