Part of step 3 of the launch path, Set up your business. Four Settings views, in the order below. Everything you import afterwards attaches to what you set here — stock lives in a location, a price is taxed at a rate, and an order is timestamped in a location’s timezone.
Currency and tax calculation are effectively one-way. Nothing in the admin blocks you from changing either one later, and that is the problem: neither change converts the prices you have already entered. A listing priced at 120 stays the number 120 — it just means something different afterwards.Settle both before you enter a single price. After that, changing them is a repricing project, not a setting.

Do it in this order

Locations come after General because a location inherits nothing useful from an unset account — and before Taxes only because you will want the locations to exist when you sanity-check a price.

Your business details

Settings → Account details. These are public: they appear at checkout, on customer receipts, and in the header of Revenue and Payments report exports. Three cards:
  • EntityBusiness name and Business ID. The business name is also the display name on every transactional email you send.
  • Business addressStreet address, ZIP / Postal code, City, Country. Leave the whole address blank and it is stored as nothing rather than as empty lines, so a partially-filled address is worse than none: fill in at least the street address if you want it on finance exports at all.
  • Contact informationEmail and Phone number.
The Email here is not the address your transactional email is sent from. TWICE sends from its own address, with your business name as the display name. The address you set here is where a customer’s reply lands, so use one somebody reads.
This is your business account. Your own name, email and interface language are personal settings and live in your Profile.

Currency, formats and timezone

Settings → General. Account-wide defaults, applied across the admin and every sales channel. Currency is three fields, not one: Currency is one value for the whole account. There is no per-location and no per-channel currency, so an account that genuinely trades in two currencies is two accounts. Date and Time carries four settings: Date format (DD.MM.YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY, YYYY-MM-DD), Time format (24-hour or AM/PM), First day of week, and Timezone.
The account Timezone is not what your locations inherit. It is used where no location is involved — report exports, account-level jobs. Every location carries its own timezone and defaults to UTC until you set it, so setting this one does not save you from setting each location’s. See below.
Logo takes HEIC, WEBP, SVG, PNG or JPG, and around 512px wide works well. It reaches receipts, documents and the storefront. Storefront colours and fonts are not set here — those live in the Theme Editor, in a later step.

Every location you sell from

Settings → Locations. A location is a place you operate from: a shop, a warehouse, a service point, a venue. Create one for every place stock can sit or an order can be handed over — including the warehouse no customer ever visits, because stock has to belong somewhere.
A new location is created switched off, with every fulfillment method off. It is not a half-configured location, it is an inactive one: it does not appear on the storefront, its Sales channels card is disabled until you activate it, and none of In-store pickup, Shipping or Local delivery is enabled for any purchase type.A location that exists but was never activated is the single most common reason a launch-day storefront shows nothing available.
Work each location’s tabs through in this order: One location is the default. The first one created for an account is marked Default location, and TWICE uses it whenever nothing else names a location. It cannot be archived, so if the default is a placeholder from account creation, move the default to a real location before you tidy up. Auto-assignment is a different switch. Use auto assign, on the Fulfillment tab, decides whether stock items are picked automatically when an order is fulfilled or scanned there — it has nothing to do with which location is the default.

Opening hours versus fulfillment hours

Two schedules, and conflating them is what produces a storefront offering pickup at three in the morning. Opening hours say when the location is open. Three tiers, all on one tab: regular weekly Opening hours, Seasonal opening hours for date ranges that override them, and Exception dates for single days — a public holiday, a stocktake. Pickup hours and Return hours, on the Fulfillment tab, say when customers can actually collect and bring things back. Each is set independently, in one of three modes: Offset mode inherits your seasonal hours and exception dates automatically; custom mode does not, so a custom schedule needs its own holiday closures. If a buffer is longer than your shortest open day, the admin warns you and that day becomes unavailable.
Only In-store pickup and In-store return are live today. Shipping and Local delivery appear on the Fulfillment tab marked as coming soon — plan your launch around handover at a location.

Taxes

Settings → Taxes. Two decisions, and the first one is the expensive one. Tax calculation is an account-wide choice between Include tax in price — the prices you enter already contain tax — and Exclude tax from price, where tax is added at checkout. It sets how every price displays and totals, everywhere, and it has no per-location or per-channel override. Get it right before you price anything. Switching it later does not adjust a single stored price; it changes what those prices mean, so a catalog priced tax-inclusive becomes a catalog priced tax-exclusive at the same numbers, and every total moves. Tax rates are named rates with a percentage — a Label like VAT 25.5%, an optional Description, and the rate itself. One is marked Set as default for new products, and that is the rate a new listing picks up. Three things to know before you create them:
  • Keep exactly one default. Nothing stops you marking a second rate as default, and every rate carrying the mark is treated as one. Which rate a new listing then picks up is not a decision you made.
  • Rates are account-wide. The rates table has a Location overrides column, but there is no way to set an override in the admin today. A rate is chosen per listing, on the listing itself — plan around that, not around per-location rates.
  • Deleting a rate does not ask what is using it. The confirmation warns that listings on that rate will be left with no tax rate, and it cannot be undone. During a launch, delete the rates you will not use before you build the catalog, not after.
There are no postcode, category or per-customer tax rules. If your tax situation needs them, raise it with your TWICE contact before you price.

Done when

  • Settings → Account details shows your legal name, business ID and address, and a receipt rendered from a test order carries them.
  • Currency, formats and the account timezone are set, and you have accepted that the currency is now fixed.
  • Every place you sell or fulfill from exists as a location, is active, and has its own timezone — not UTC by default.
  • Each active location has real opening hours, not 00:00–23:59, and pickup and return hours that match how you actually hand things over.
  • Online store is on for every location customers are allowed to choose, and off for the warehouses they are not.
  • One location, and one only, is marked Default location, and it is a real place.
  • Tax calculation is set the way your accountant expects, and exactly one tax rate carries the Default chip.
  • Nothing has been imported yet.
