Open in TWICE Admin

inventory/stock-items
Record a cost or an income on one unit when it happens outside an order: a repair bill, a write-off, an insurance payout. The entry counts toward the unit’s totals and its profitability as soon as you add it. Stock Item explains which entries the tab keeps for you.

Prerequisites

Required permissions:
  • Create and edit stock items to add an entry (inventory:stock_item_events:manage).
  • View income & expenses for the unit’s costs and income (inventory:stock_item_cost:view).
Manager, Admin and Owner hold both. Member holds only the first. See Users & Roles.
Have ready before you start:
  • The amount without taxes. The totals on Income & Expenses are read without taxes.
  • A title you will recognise later, such as the supplier and the work done. The table lists entries by it.

The walkthrough

1

Open the stock item

Select Inventory in the left sidebar. Search for the item by its name or SKU in the search box above the table, then click its row. The stock item opens on its General tab.
2

Open Income & Expenses

Click Income & Expenses in the tab row. Three totals sit at the top: Total Costs, Total Income, and Profitability, which is income minus costs. The table under them lists the unit’s entries, with a link to the order under Reference on each Order revenue row.
3

Click Add

Click Add at the top right of the Income & Expenses table. The Add Income & Expenses dialog opens, with Type set to Cost.
4

Choose the type

Leave Type at Cost for money the unit cost you, such as a repair or a write-off. Choose Income for money it brought in outside an order, such as an insurance payout.
5

Name the entry

Enter a Title, such as the supplier and the work done. The table lists the entry by it. Put any detail you want to keep in Description.
6

Enter the amount

Enter the amount in Value, which carries your currency in its label. Enter it as a positive number for a cost and for an income alike: Type decides which total it counts toward.
7

Add the entry

Click Add at the bottom of the dialog. The dialog closes, your entry is in the table with today’s date, and Total Costs or Total Income at the top includes it.

How do I know it worked?

  • The entry is in the table with today’s date, its Type and your title under Name. A cost shows as a negative figure under Amount.
  • Total Costs or Total Income has gone up by the amount.
  • Profitability has moved by the same amount.

Troubleshooting / common pitfalls

Every role you hold hides it. Ask an admin to show it again with Income & costs on the role’s UI Visibility tab. See UI visibility.
Entries cannot be edited. Tick the row, click Delete and confirm, then add the entry again. See Stock Item.
Order revenue is worked out from the order the unit was on, so you cannot delete it here. Correct the order and the row follows. See Stock Item.
