Prerequisites
Have ready before you start:
- The locations where staff move items by hand, through the states you set under Fulfillment lifecycle. Every other location leaves the states to the automations.
The walkthrough
1
Open the fulfillment lifecycle
Open Settings → Orders and click Fulfillment lifecycle. The page lists your Lifecycle states, then New item automations, and at the bottom the “Show fulfillment states in order” card.
2
Open the location list
The card lists your locations under Shown in locations and Hidden in locations. Click Manage in the card’s top-right corner. A panel opens with a row for each location and a Show item state box on each row.
3
Tick the locations
Click a location’s row to tick or clear its box. Tick the locations where staff move items through the states by hand. Clear the ones where your order lifecycle automations move the items instead.
4
Save the choice
Click Save at the bottom of the panel. The panel closes, and the card lists each location under Shown in locations or Hidden in locations.
How do I know it worked?
- The card lists each location under the heading you chose.
- An order picked up at a hidden location shows no item states, except on an item taken off the order, which keeps its state read-only.
- An order picked up at a shown location shows each item’s state, and staff can change it.
Troubleshooting / common pitfalls

The order’s pickup location decides, so the order is picked up elsewhere. An item taken off the order also keeps its state. See Locations.
