Step 6 of the launch path. Everything is configured. This step proves it, by putting a real order all the way through and then undoing it. Do this yourself, on your own storefront, with your own card. Reading the settings back does not count — the failures worth finding are the ones only a full round trip exposes, like a confirmation email that never arrives because it went to spam.

Run the round trip

Order something with several items and at least one add-on; a single-line order tests very little. Then follow it the whole way: it appears in the admin, the confirmation lands in a real inbox, the receipt renders with your details, the payment goes through, you hand the item out and take it back, and a damaged return produces the charge you expect. Then refund it and clean up, so your numbers start from zero.
A guide for running your pre-launch test order is in progress. Until it lands, these cover the individual moves: Take an order in admin, Take payment, Refund an order, Work the day’s pickups and returns, Handle a late, damaged or partial return, Cancel or archive an order.
Done when: one order has been placed on the storefront, confirmed by email, paid, handed out, returned, refunded, and cleaned up — and every document along the way was correct.

Order both ways

Your staff will take orders in the admin; your customers will place them on the storefront. They are different paths through the same system and both need testing. Use Set up the online store to confirm the storefront is actually live before you order through it. Done when: an order created at the counter and an order placed on the storefront both arrive correctly.
