Change a reservation's dates, title or note from the stock item's **Events** tab, for example when a repair runs longer than planned or a service finishes early. [Stock item events](https://www.twicecommerce.com/docs/concepts/inventory/events.md#reservation-priority) explains how TWICE Commerce fits the new dates.

## Prerequisites

> [!WARNING]
>
> **Required permissions:**
>
> * **Create and edit stock items** (`inventory:stock_item_events:manage`) to change the reservation. Every built-in role holds it, Member included. See [Users & Roles](https://www.twicecommerce.com/docs/settings/users-roles.md).

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Have ready before you start:**
>
> * **The new dates**, or the new title or note.

## The walkthrough

**1. Open the stock item**

Open **Inventory → Stock items** and click the item's row. The stock item opens. With more than one location, check the location selector in the top-left corner first, because the **Events** tab lists only the orders and reservations at the locations it shows.

**2. Open the Events tab**

Click the **Events** tab and find the reservation by its title under **Event name**. On an item with many rows, type the title in the search above the table.

**3. Open the reservation**

Click the reservation's row. The **Edit event** panel opens on the right with its title, note, dates and any costs. **Location** is greyed out, because a reservation stays at the location it was made at.

**4. Change the title or note**

Change **Title** or **Note** if the reason has changed. Skip this step to change only the dates.

**5. Change the dates**

Set the new **Start date** or **End date**. On a reservation with no end date, **End date** opens empty and **No end date** unticked. Tick **No end date** again to keep it open-ended, or set an end date.

**6. Save the reservation**

Click **Save** at the bottom of the panel. It stays greyed out until something has changed. The panel closes, and the reservation's row shows the new dates. If the new dates have no room, **Error updating reservation** shows and the panel stays open with nothing saved.

## How do I know it worked?

* **The reservation's row shows the new dates** and title on the **Events** tab.
* **Opening the row again** shows the panel with what you saved.

## Troubleshooting / common pitfalls

> [accordion] The notice reads Error updating reservation
>
> The new dates have no free unit at the reservation's location. Editing never takes the item from an order, so choose dates with room, or free them first. See [Reservation priority](https://www.twicecommerce.com/docs/concepts/inventory/events.md#reservation-priority).

> [accordion] The panel reads Event is currently not blocking stock
>
> The reservation holds no unit over its dates, for example because a later reservation took the item. Its row on the **Events** tab is red. Change the dates to a window with room and save, or delete it. See [Reservation priority](https://www.twicecommerce.com/docs/concepts/inventory/events.md#reservation-priority).

> [accordion] The reservation needs another location
>
> **Location** cannot change on a reservation. Delete it and reserve the item again at the other location. See [Delete a reservation](https://www.twicecommerce.com/docs/guides/inventory/delete-a-reservation.md).
